At the Canadian Foundation for Development and Empowerment (CFDE) we provide the tools and resources necessary for young people and their families in need to thrive academically.

We endeavor to define and respond to systemic issues that impact the quality of life and well-being of young people and their families who want to succeed.

Our Programs

Youth Programs

One of our main goals is to empower the lives of youth so that they can develop the skills for tomorrow. STEM and STEAM programs.

English Language

One of our main programs for newcomers of all ages is ESL. Our programs are for all levels and ages.

Employment Support

We offer a variety of services to help newcomers reach their goals of finding the right job.

Career Development

We provide our clients with advice, skills, knowledge, and support to develop their careers in Canada.

Services for Low-Income Children/Youth

CFDE provides educational materials (such as backpacks, calculators, notebooks, and pencils) to schools in the Edmonton area. Free Online Activity Centre.

Services for Post-Secondary Students

CFDE helps post-secondary students find grants, scholarships, and bursaries. A database with information on the thousands of financial aid opportunities in Alberta is updated on a weekly basis.

Services for Low-Income Adults

CFDE provides specialty training for adults in need such as ESL courses, computer classes, and other training programs CFDE provides specialty training for newcomers

Youth participants will gain valuable skills such as leadership, entrepreneurship, career planning, and financial literacy. Our programs also include mentorship opportunities and hands-on projects to prepare them for the future.

Yes, we offer guidance and mentorship to help youth explore career options and set clear goals for their future.

Most of our classes have fees; however, we have low-cost fees for the unemployed and low-income permanent residents. Furthermore, most of our students can receive additional services such as employment support without extra costs.
Permanent residents can also apply for government funding for some of our fee-based programs. 

To register for English Language courses you must first complete this registration form. Then, we will contact you as soon as possible to complete an Online English test. You can start English courses on any Monday.    programs.
