How the Canadian Foundation for Development and Empowerment collects, uses and protects the information you give us.

Who We Are

CFDE is a non-profit organisation based in Edmonton, Alberta. This page explains what information we collect through this website and why.

What We Collect

We only collect information that you choose to enter into one of our forms. Depending on the form, this may include:

  • Your name and the name of a youth or family member
  • Email address and telephone number
  • Area of Edmonton, school grade, or first language
  • The programmes or support you are interested in
  • Accessibility, allergy or accommodation information you choose to share
  • Volunteer skills, availability and any documents you upload
  • Referral details, where a professional refers a family to us

We do not collect payment card details through any form on this website, and we will never ask for card or banking details by web form or email.

Why We Collect It

We use your information only to:

  • Contact you about the programme, role or support you asked about
  • Match youth and families to a suitable place when one becomes available
  • Assess volunteer applications and arrange any checks that a role requires
  • Follow up on a referral made by a school or community organisation
  • Understand, in general terms, what support our community needs

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it.

Who Can See It

Form submissions are delivered to a CFDE-controlled email account and stored in the private administration area of this website. They can be read only by CFDE staff and authorised volunteers who need them for the purpose above.

We never publish information submitted by parents, youth or volunteers on this website, and we do not share it with other organisations without your permission. The only exceptions are where CFDE is required to act by law, or where there is a serious concern about the safety of a child or young person.

Children and Young People

Registration forms for CFDE youth programmes are intended to be completed by a parent or legal guardian, who is asked to confirm their consent before submitting.

Where a school, settlement worker or community organisation refers a family to CFDE, we ask the referring person to confirm that the parent or guardian has given permission for us to make contact.

How Long We Keep It

We keep your information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose you gave it, and then remove it. If you would like your details removed sooner, please contact us and we will do so.

Your Choices

You can ask us at any time to:

  • Tell you what information we hold about you
  • Correct anything that is wrong
  • Delete your information
  • Stop contacting you
